HCC offers animal care workshops for pet owners

This fall, Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering two workshops geared towards pet owners.

The first course, “Introduction to Dog Training for Dog Owners,” will introduce students to the principles of dog behavior and learning. Taught by national lecturer Pat Miller, author of “The Power of Positive Dog Training,” this course will also involve hands-on training demonstrations. Students are encouraged to bring their own dogs on the last night of class. This three-night course will be offered on Tuesdays, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning Oct. 6, and the first two classes will be held on HCC’s main campus. The final class will be held at Peaceable Paws in Fairplay, Md. Cost is $129.

The second course, “Introduction to Pet Message for the Pet Owner,” will provide pet owners with a step-by-step approach to massaging their dog or cat. Students will learn about the holistic philosophy of animal well-being, as well as basic pet anatomy, animal psychology, and more. The one-day workshop will be held on Sat., Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Washington County Humane Society. Cost is $64.
