Chair caning course offered at Fort Ritchie campus

Hagerstown Community College’s Center for Continuing Education is offering a course on the heritage craft of chair caning beginning March 15 at HCC’s Fort Ritchie site.
Taught by HCC instructor Jo Lum of Living Waters Chair Caning, participants will learn the art of chair caning and seat weaving to restore their favorite furniture pieces. Students are asked to bring a bucket, scissors, towel, measuring tape, pencil, one dozen clothes pins, and paper to class. Additional materials may be purchased from the instructor.
Cost is $80. Class is limited to 15 students and will be offered on Mondays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning March 15 and ending April 12. For more information or to register, call 301-790-2800, ext. 236.
