National Federation of the Blind offers scholarship through HCC
Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Fri, 03/05/2010 - 11:37am
Students at Hagerstown Community College are eligible to apply for the John T. McCraw Scholarship Program. The program includes two scholarships in the amounts of $2,000 and $1,500 and will be awarded to qualified blind students who exhibit academic achievement and community involvement.
Any legally blind student who is either a Maryland resident or is studying at a Maryland college can apply for the scholarship program as long as they are attending college full-time. Recipients are expected to attend the annual Convention of the National Federation of the Blind in Dallas, Texas in July 2010, as well as the convention in Annapolis in October 2010. Financial assistance to attend the conventions will be provided. Recipients' participation in both conventions is mandatory in order to qualify for these scholarships.
Applications can be picked up at the Student Financial Aid Office in the Administration and Student Affairs (ASA) Building on HCC's main campus. All applications must be postmarked by April 20, 2010.
For more information, contact Student Financial Aid Counselor Britney Carter at 301-790-2800, ext. 605, or via e-mail at blcarter@hagerstowncc.edu. For more information about the scholarship, go to www.nfbmd.org/scholarships.
