Heritage Jazz Ensemble performs June 14

Update for Mon., June 14: Due to an electrical outage in the Alumni Amphitheater, tonight's performance by the Heritage Jazz Ensemble has been canceled. The band hopes to reschedule another performance later in the summer.

The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the U.S. Air Force Heritage Jazz Ensemble as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series, on Mon., June 14, at 6 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.

The U.S. Air Force Heritage Jazz Ensemble, also known as the Satellite Jazz Ensemble, is one of several ensembles making up the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band, which consists of eight different ensemble groups.  The 12-piece band, directed by Master Sergeant Allen Wittig, performs a variety of jazz, blues, and funk.  The band plays tribute to the Big Band leaders of the swing era including Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, and Glenn Miller, and typically features great Jazz singers of the past.

This concert is free and open to the public.  This year’s Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Joint Veterans Council, and Amvets Department Service Foundation, Inc.
