James River Ramblers perform June 27

The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host The James River Ramblers Dixieland Band as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series, on Sun., June 27, at 4:30 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.

The James River Ramblers Dixieland Band is one of nine ensembles that make up the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band (TRADOC), which originally formed in 1931.  The seven-piece Dixie Band consists of cornet, clarinet, baritone saxophone, trombone, banjo, tuba, and drums. The band favors the New Orleans style of jazz music and often performs works by Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Jelly Roll Morton, and King Oliver.            

This concert is free and open to the public.  The Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Joint Veterans Council, and Amvets Department Service Foundation, Inc.
