Dental radiation safety seminar offered through HCC

Hagerstown Community College’s Continuing Education and Community Services Division is offering a seminar entitled, “Radiation Safety Review for Dental Professionals,” on Sat., April 30, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Elliott Center on HCC’s main campus.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. A series of sessions and workshops will follow including: “Developing and Processing X-Rays,” at 8 a.m.; “Educating Patients regarding Radiation Safety,” at 9:30 a.m.; and “Implementing and Maintaining Safety Procedures,” at 11 a.m. Additional topics include new techniques to improve diagnostic ability and reduce radiation exposure to the dental patient. A question and answer session will be held from 12:15 to 12:30 p.m. at which time certificates will be awarded to attendees.

Guest speaker will be Robert Steiner, D.D.S., a general dentist who first established his practice in Waynesboro, Pa. in 1967 and operated it successfully until his retirement in March 2000. Steiner has served as adjunct faculty member at HCC for the last five years and was recently named an outstanding adjunct faculty member in the Health Sciences Division for his work teaching students in the dental assisting program.

Professional continuing education credits (CEUs) are available to Maryland and
