(Release: May 16, 2011) - Hagerstown Community College held its 64th annual commencement on Saturday, May 14, at 9:30 a.m. in the Athletic, Recreation, and Community Center. HCC President Dr. Guy Altieri and members of the board of trustees presented 538 degrees and certificates to HCC’s largest graduating class ever, before a crowd of more than 2,000 people.
Dr. Donna Rudy, HCC dean of student affairs, reports that 357 students received associate degrees in the transfer curricula, designed for students planning to continue their education at a four-year institution. The top choices of colleges for HCC graduates in the transfer program are Shepherd University, Frostburg State University, Shippensburg University, and University of Maryland.
Nursing was the most popular curricula for the two-year, career-oriented students with 68 graduates. In the transfer program, business administration and general studies were the largest concentrations.
Awards for academic achievement were presented at the Honors Convocation, held on May 12.
