(Release: June 29, 2011) - Hagerstown Community College’s Hawk Booster Club held its annual Irv Easterday Golf Tournament and Hall of Fame Banquet on June 27, at the Beaver Creek Country Club.
At the banquet, five new members were inducted into the HCC Hall of Fame. New members included Beth Domenico, former HCC athlete and former coach of the HCC’s award-winning volleyball team; Darryl Powell, former HCC athlete and baseball coach at HCC; Mark Shives, former HCC athlete currently coaching baseball at Clear Spring High School; Mike Spinner, former HCC athlete and former cross country and track and field at HCC; and Garland Williams, former HCC track and field athlete currently coaching basketball at Sherando High School.
In addition, Dr. Dana Brooks, who currently serves dean of physical activity and sports sciences at West Virginia University, received the Lifetime Achievement Award; Peter O’Boyle, of O’Boyle Enterprises, Inc., received the Business of the Year Award; and Richard “RB” Bernier was honored for his recent sponsorship of an endowed scholarship for women’s athletics.
Hall of Fame inductees were each presented with a commemorative plaque highlighting their athletic and volunteer services for HCC. Robert “Bo” Myers, director of athletics and leisure studies, served as the master of ceremonies at the event.
