Navy Country Current to perform Aug. 10

U.S. Navy Country Current

The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will once again host the U.S. Navy Country Current as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series. The show, originally scheduled for June 1 but canceled due to severe thunderstorms, has been rescheduled for Wed., Aug. 10, at 6:30 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.

The Country Current is a seven-member country-bluegrass ensemble originally formed in 1973 under the leadership of banjo player Bill Emerson. Currently, the group is under the direction of banjoist Senior Chief Musician Keith M. Arneson. In support of Navy recruiting, the Country Current tours the United States each year and has performed alongside a host of country artists including Brooks and Dunn, Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Toby Keith, Alison Krauss, Boots Randolph, the Statler Brothers, and many others.
