HCC to offer career exploration programs for middle school students

Hagerstown Community College’s College for Kids program is offering several career exploration programs this summer, for students in grades six through eight.
“Academy STEM” will focus on biotechnology, cybersecurity, alternative energy, and engineering, and will be held July 9 through 13. “Vet Academy” will introduce students to the world of animals and veterinary medicine. It will be held June 25 through 29 and again, July 16 through 20. “Nursing Academy” will explore the profession of nursing, and will meet June 25 through 29. “Teaching Academy” offers students a glimpse inside the world of learning and education. It will be held July 9 through 13. “ER Academy” explores the various jobs and departments within an emergency room setting. It will be held July 23 through 27. “Biz Academy” helps young entrepreneurs develop their creativity and business minds. It will be held July 23 through 27.
Classes meet each day from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the HCC campus. The fee for each week is $155, and includes materials and registration, with the exception of “ER Academy,” which is $170.
