Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Wed, 05/16/2012 - 10:28am
Hagerstown Community College is offering a course entitled “Solar and Wind Systems Firefighter Safety,” on Sat., June 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the STEM Building, room 208.
This course is designed to help fire companies develop best practices for responding to structural fires that include solar panels, wind generators, and off-grid battery backup systems. Participants will gain a basic understanding of alternative energy delivery systems and learn to activate disconnects for these systems.
The course fee is $80. Firefighters are encouraged to apply for grant funding to receive a tuition reduction. For more information, contact Jack Drooger at 240-500-2453 or jadrooger@hagerstowncc.edu.
This project is funded, in part, by a grant awarded under the Community-Based Job Training Grants, as implemented by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration.
