"Rotunda" by Audra Haddock-Martenot

Several faculty members in the HCC art department recently had their work shown at gallery exhibits.

Past exhibitions included:


Ben McAfee, Adjunct Instructor, Painting

Two of McAfee’s pieces, “Lifeline” and “Innocence,” were on display from Jan. 13 – Feb. 16 at the Art Association of Harrisburg as part of the “Figuratively Speaking” exhibit.


Audra Haddock-Martenot

Haddock-Martenot’s work was recently exhibited as part of the Cumberland Valley Photographic Salon. The annual exhibition was on display from Jan. 28 through April 29 at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. Haddock-Martenot had two pieces in this year’s show: “Rotunda” and “Sound.”

Haddock-Martenot also gave a lecture at the Antietam Photo Club on March 8.

Tom Renner, Adjunct Instructor, Drawing & Painting

Renner’s work was featured in “The Wyeth Family of Artists” show, which ran from Sept. 10 through Jan. 15 at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. The show consisted of pieces of art from the Wyeth family which featured an egg tempera painting and watercolor by Andrew Wyeth, a painting by his father N.C. Wyeth, and two graphic pieces by Andrew's son, Jamie. The show also included works from Andrew's extended family and works by regional artists who have been influenced by Andrew's work.

Renner also served as a panel member for a gallery talk with the public, which was held on the final day of the show.


Tom Renner and Rob Rock

Renner and Rob Rock, another adjunct instructor at HCC, both exhibited work at the Washington County Arts Council Gallery as part of the Third Annual Art Educators of Washington County exhibit. The Art Educators exhibit ran from Feb. 9 through March 6.


Janet Salter
, Adjunct Instructor, Portrait & Life Drawing

Salter exhibited work at several shows in the fall including the “Look Who’s Turning Twenty” show and the reception for the Mansion House’s anniversary.

Salter also exhibited two oil paintings at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts as part of the Valley Art Association exhibition, which ran from Sept. 24 through Jan. 22. The two paintings that were shown included “Tom’s Cove” and “Yvonne.”

Joan Bontempo
, Associate Professor, Art Appreciation & Art History
and Coordinator, Art

Bontempo will be exhibiting work at the Marin-Price Galleries in Chevy Chase, Md. The sculpture exhibition will be held from Aug. 4 – Aug. 31. Bontempo will have seven sculpture pieces on display. The opening reception will be held on Sat., Aug. 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
