College Completion event held Oct. 12

The Pi Theta Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Hagerstown Community College will hold the 2012 College Completion Symposium on Fri., Oct. 12, from 6 to 9 p.m., in the Kepler Center on HCC’s main campus.
Intended for both high school and college students, this year’s symposium will feature local, state, and national speakers discussing how students can overcome obstacles to complete a college degree. Guest speakers include Guy Altieri, HCC president; Brien Poffenberger, president, Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce; Danette Howard, Maryland Secretary of Higher Education; and Rod Risley, executive director, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
A question-and-answer session will be held immediately following the speaker presentations. Local, state, and national agencies will also have information booths set up in the Kepler Center highlighting services that can help students achieve success and complete their programs of study.
