HCC to offer personal trainer certification course

Hagerstown Community College’s Continuing Education and Community Services Division will offer a ten-week course intended to help participants prepare for the personal trainer national certification exam.
“Personal Trainer Certification” will be offered on Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., beginning March 23 and ending May 18. The course includes 16 hours of hands-on, practical training where students work directly with clients and 16 hours of classroom instruction. Lecture topics include anatomy, health screening, exercise physiology, nutrition, and muscle and skeletal injuries. The national exam will be held on the final day of class. Students are required to complete a 30-hour internship within one year of completing the course in order to be eligible for certification.
Classes will be held in the Career Programs Building on HCC’s main campus and at a local gym for the hands-on training. Cost is $639. For more information, contact Adrienne Summers at 240-500-2520, or email amsummers@hagerstowncc.edu.
