Submitted by Leigh-Anne Mauk on Thu, 02/28/2013 - 5:21am
The Continuing Education and Community Services Division at Hagerstown Community College will offer a three-part nurse refresher course for registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) beginning in March.
The nurse refresher course consists of three separate sections. The first section, “Nurse Refresher Classroom Theory,” will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 6 to 10 p.m., beginning March 18 and ending May 22. Discussion topics include nursing care delivery, adult medical and surgical nursing, and current issues and trends in nursing practice. Cost is $642.
The second section, “Nurse Refresher Skills Lab,” will be held on Tuesday evenings, from 6 to 10 p.m., beginning April 2 and ending May 21. This course coincides with the first section and will help students review basic nursing care skills. Cost is $348.
The third section, “Nurse Refresher Clinical Practice,” will be held from May 27 through Aug. 16. Students must complete sections one and two prior to enrolling in the third portion of the course. During this final section, students will complete 60 clinical hours in a clinical setting under the direction of a preceptor. Days and times will vary depending on scheduled hours. Cost is $242.
Upon successful completion of the entire course, HCC will notify the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON).
