Bestselling authors to speak at Writing Institute

Sylvia Day & Erica Bauermeister

The Nora Roberts Writing Institute at Hagerstown Community College is less than a month away and participants are eagerly awaiting the chance to hear from bestselling authors Sylvia Day and Erica Bauermeister. Day will deliver the opening keynote on Fri., Aug. 2 and Bauermeister will address the group on Sat., Aug. 3.
“We are very fortunate to have such well-known and accomplished authors for our very first year of this institute,” said Anne Myers, program coordinator at HCC. “Right from the start of planning and working with Nora Roberts and her publicist, we have had tremendous success in attracting highly skilled writers and building a very strong program with excellent content.”
Day is the #1 New York Times and #1 international bestselling author of over a dozen award-winning novels translated into 40 languages. More than 550,000 copies of her most recent release, “Entwined with You” (Berkeley Books, 2013), sold in its debut week. She has been nominated for the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Author and her work has been honored as Amazon’s Best of the Year in Romance.
Bauermeister is a critically acclaimed, bestselling author of the three novels: “The School of Essential Ingredients” (Putnam, 2009), “Joy for Beginners” (Putnam, 2011), and “The Lost Art of Mixing” (Putnam, 2013). She is also the co-author of two nonfiction books: “500 Great Books by Women: A Reader's Guide” and “Let's Hear It For the Girls: 375 Great Books for Readers 2-14.”
Roberts has lent her name to HCC’s writing institute to help provide participants with a solid foundation upon which to build a writing career. The two-day institute is geared toward beginning and aspiring fiction writers of all genres and will feature 15 breakout sessions on topics such as screenwriting, plot development, and publishing, in addition to the two keynote speakers. Also included in the event is a Young Writers Institute, with breakout sessions designed for teen fiction writers.
Reservations for the institute are limited and filling quickly. To register or learn more, visit or call 240-500-2310.
