HCC to offer genealogy seminar on Nov. 2

Hagerstown Community College’s Continuing Education and Business Services Division will hold the 2nd Annual HCC Genealogy Seminar on Sat., Nov. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Career Programs Building on HCC’s main campus.

The seminar will feature a variety of well-known speakers discussing the latest genealogical trends and research methods. Speakers include genealogist Jim Bartlett, who will discuss DNA as a tool for discovering family origins and fining relatives; genealogist Rebecca Whitman Koford, who will discuss her most recent project researching the War of 1812; and Sabrina Petersen, global imaging director at, who will discuss recent updates and advances from the world-renowned genealogy website.
