HCC to offer new video production courses

Students enrolled in credit programs at Hagerstown Community College, who are interested in studying video production, now have two new courses to choose from. Video and Audio II and Motion Design will be offered for the spring 2014 semester, which begins January 13.

Video and Audio II (GDT-230) is the second of a two-part series in which each student will produce and edit two projects, a documentary and a music video, using pre-post production techniques learned in part one. Students will use iMac computers and learn how to transfer videos from Mac to PC formats. Audra Haddock-Martenot, a fine art photographer and independent filmmaker, is the instructor. For the spring semester, this course will be held on Wednesdays, from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

In Motion Design (GDT-240), students will learn animation fundamentals and build 2D and 3D segments to package their documentary and music video projects. The course will be taught by John Dean, former director of production design at National Geographic Television. For the spring semester, it will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 11:15 a.m.

The prerequisite for both of these courses is Digital Video and Audio I (GDT-220). For more information, contact Ellen Smith at elsmith@hagerstowncc.edu or Martenot at amartenot@hagerstowncc.edu.
