HCC student wins scholarship

(Release: December 17, 2013) - Hagerstown Community College student Amber Castro, of Hagerstown, was recently awarded a scholarship through the Hispanic Association of Hagerstown (HAH).

Castro, 17, is a nursing major and plans to transfer to Howard University to obtain her master’s degree in nursing after finishing her general education requirements at HCC. She hopes to one day become a nurse practitioner and open her own practice.

The HAH scholarship is intended to support the Hispanic student body of HCC. Scholarships are offered by semester and scholarship funds are raised annually at the Hagerstown Hispanic Festival. Next year’s festival will be held on Sept. 21, 2014, at the Hagerstown Fairgrounds.
