Dot Foods donates truck to HCC truck driving program

(October 10, 2018) – Dot Foods recently donated a 2012 Volvo VNL model tractor with auto-shift to the truck driver training program at Hagerstown Community College. This is HCC’s newest model tractor, and will add an automatic transmission tractor to the school’s fleet, for the purpose of CDL-A training and MVA testing purposes.

“Dot Foods and Dot Transportation are staunch supporters of the HCC truck driving program, and HCC is very grateful for this donation, which brings our training fleet to seven tractors,” said Mike Stevenson, program coordinator. “Our remaining tractors are equipped with 10-speed standard transmissions and this donation opens a new option to our students.”

HCC’s Commercial Vehicle Transportation Program is a comprehensive program designed to guide students into the transportation industry by giving them an opportunity to study for Class A and Class B commercial driver’s licenses. Students receive classroom instruction and range and road training. The program includes short-term certificates for CVT specialist and commercial transportation management, as well as an associate degree in commercial transportation administration.
