(July 10, 2017) - The TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program at Hagerstown Community College is now accepting applications.
TRiO SSS is a unique program designed to assist first-generation and income-eligible students, and students with documented disabilities. As a federally funded program, TRiO SSS seeks to guide participants through their first two years of postsecondary education with the ultimate goal of graduation and transfer to a four-year university or entry into a chosen career. By providing various services and a support system, the program works to enable students to overcome barriers toward achieving personal, academic, and financial success.
Program benefits include individualized academic planning, career advising, appointment-based tutoring, weekly study groups, assistance developing study skills and financial literacy, college trips to learn about transfer opportunities, cultural events, and workshops. As participants in the program, students have access to the TRiO SSS study center with computers, calculators, reference books, and study aids. The study center is a quiet space with few distractions, available only to TRiO SSS students.
TRiO SSS participants are recognized upon entry to the program at an induction ceremony in the fall and at an annual recognition ceremony in the spring, which celebrates successful completion of the academic year.
Priority consideration will be given to students who apply before Saturday, July 15, 2017. Admission is selective. To learn more and apply online, visit www.hagerstowncc.edu/triosss. For additional information, contact the TRiO office at 240-500-2659, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
