(October 31, 2018) – As a student at Hagerstown Community College in 2014, Shane Heizer was able to secure an internship with Middletown Valley Bank. That internship continued after his graduation from HCC and, later, while he attended Loyola University Maryland.
Today, Heizer is employed as a full-time portfolio manager at MVB. He recently visited HCC, in his role at MVB, to help facilitate a student discussion on personal budgeting, as part of the HCC Business Club’s Financial Literacy Series.
“HCC provided me the resources required to build both a professional and personal foundation that allowed for me to transition smoothly into a four-year university,” said Heizer. “Furthermore, Professor Jim Pierne had a profound impact on me, as he taught me management and business and more importantly, he gave me an internship opportunity at Middletown Valley Bank. Since then, I’ve been able to help businesses in the community fund their working capital requirements and expansion projects, which I love.”
Heizer, of Hagerstown, earned an associate degree in business administration while at HCC and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance and economics, from Loyola University Maryland.
