(Release: August 2, 2012) - Hagerstown Community College and Drexel University Online recently signed an agreement that will allow students to complete a bachelor’s degree in nursing through the two schools. The agreement allows students to complete 90 credits at HCC and the remaining 30 credits through Drexel’s online program. HCC students will receive a 25 percent discount on Drexel’s tuition.
“The partnership with a top-ranking BSN program like Drexel enables our HCC students to make a seamless transition from HCC to Drexel, allowing them to continue to a BSN program as soon as possible after receiving their associate’s degree,” said Karen Hammond, director of nursing at HCC. “According to the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Report on the Future of Nursing, 80 percent of nurses are to be BSN prepared by 2020. Many hospitals and healthcare facilities are requiring that RNs obtain their BSN within 10 years or less after graduation.”
This is the only agreement that HCC has which allows its nursing students to finish a bachelor’s degree program online. Drexel University will host an information session at HCC on Thurs., Oct. 11, 2012, from 1 to 2 p.m. For more information, contact Karen Hammond at firstname.lastname@example.org or 240-500-2241.
