(January 22, 2017) – Hagerstown Community College recently signed an agreement with Maryland Entertainment Group (MEG) to establish a partnership to benefit both organizations.
Through the partnership, MEG will provide an artist-in-residence program at HCC where qualified HCC students will have the opportunity to work with professional actors and directors on stage or behind the scenes. They will produce five full theatrical productions each year, providing the community access to contemporary and classic theatre.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to attend field trips to well-known productions, participate in talkbacks with cast members after performances, and participate in workshops where HCC and high school students will work directly with professional performers. Concession sales at all productions will benefit HCC’s Robinwood Players in raising funds for student scholarships.
MEG is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide exceptional and relevant visual and performing arts to the Hagerstown and Washington County community for the purposes of diversifying and enriching the artistic offerings in the area, providing opportunities for artists and performers, and cultivating a broader arts audience.
