(Hagerstown, Md.)— The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will hold its 24th Annual Flower & Garden Show on Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the ARCC.
More than 150 vendors will take part in the show, named as one of the area’s premier events. Show participants include experts in nurseries, lawn and garden equipment, pottery and statuary, landscaping, tree services, stone products, pools, spas, outdoor furniture, flowers, wild bird products, and natural gourmet gifts from the garden.
Seminars and demonstrations on a variety of gardening topics will be held continuously throughout both days of the event.
Saturday seminars include:
10 a.m. – “Landscaping with Small Fruits,” with Ed Higginbottom, master gardener
11 a.m. – “Big Dreams, Small Garden,” with Marianne Willburn, author and garden columnist (book signing to follow)
12:30 p.m. – “Wildflowers,” with Dr. Larry Stritch, botanist, U.S. Forest Service, retired
1:30 p.m. – “Gardening for Hummingbirds,” with Annette Cormany, University of Maryland horticulture educator
2:30 p.m. – “Functionality of the Plants in a Garden,” with James Dillon, Pennsylvania certified horticulturist and owner, Native Haven
3:30 p.m. – “Finding Your Own Garden Style,” with Elin Haaga, garden designer and educator
Sunday seminars include:
11:30 a.m. – “Smartphone Photography in Your Garden,” with Lena Rotenberg, master gardener and photographer
12:30 p.m. – “The Dysfunctional Landscape – Transitioning from Conventional to Regenerative,” with Jason Swope, master gardener and landscape management consultant
1:30 p.m. – “Bees and Beekeeping,” with Louise Capezuto, bee keeper
2:30 p.m. – “Remembering a Beekeeper’s Garden,” with Denny Warrenfeltz, owner Roostervance Gardens
Admission is $5 for adults and free for children under 12. Proceeds benefit the HCC Alumni Association. Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase at the Garden Café. Free parking and garden themed children’s activities will be available.
