HCC art professors to exhibit artwork at NOMA Gallery December show

(December 3, 2018) – Hagerstown Community College faculty members Joan Bontempo and Beth Carey have been accepted to display their jewelry and ceramic works in the December show “Blessings from the Fire Gods,” at the NOMA Gallery in Frederick.

Bontempo is a professor and coordinator of the art department at HCC, where she currently teaches ceramics and art history. She has exhibited her ceramic work regionally and nationally for more than 40 years. She received a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Notre Dame and a master of fine arts from Wayne State University.

Carey teaches jewelry at HCC and the Delaplaine Arts Center in Frederick. After teaching for more than 20 years, she recently opened her own teaching studio, Studio 2. Carey’s designs are very detailed and inspired by shapes and colors in nature.

The exhibit at NOMA Gallery will be open from November 30 to December 30 on Fridays, from 4 to 8 p.m.; Saturdays from 12 to 8 p.m.; and Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.nomagalleryfrederick.com
