HCC to offer grants for middle school girls to attend STEM summer camps

(March 22, 2019)— The College for Kids program at Hagerstown Community College is offering three Go Girl Power grants this summer for girls entering grades six through eight that are interested in career exploration and personal discovery in the STEM (Science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields.

The grants can be applied to the following 2019 College for Kids camps:

  • Girls Exploring Manufacturing – June 17 to 21
  • Girls Exploring Manufacturing: Overdrive – July 15 to 19
  • Girls Exploring Engineering – August 5 to 9

The Go Girl Power grants reduces the cost of each camp to $8. Girls Exploring Engineering is sponsored by JLG Industries.

College for Kids offers nearly 100 week-long camps that cover a variety of exciting subjects for students in elementary grades through high school. Camps are led by highly qualified instructors in small class settings with an emphasis on hands-on, interactive learning experiences. Camps start June 17 and continue through the week of August 9, with a break the week of July 4. Campers meet Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
