(Release: June 20, 2014)— Joan Bontempo, an associate professor of art appreciation and art history and the coordinator of the art department at Hagerstown Community College, is currently exhibiting ceramic sculptures at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, located at 401 Museum Drive in Hagerstown.
Bontempo was one of 20 ceramic artists invited to take part in “Pyro Protagonists: A Generation of Ceramic Artists.” The exhibit features regional artists showcasing a variety of ceramic techniques and seeks to express “the myriad of aesthetic and stylistic interpretations ceramic artists utilize,” according to the museum’s website.
Bontempo has been creating art for more than 35 years and has shown her work in galleries and museums across the United States including the Detroit Museum of Arts, The Downey Museum of Arts, The Canton Art Institute, The Pittsburgh Art Institute, The Marin-Price Galleries, and the New Art Form Exposition.
