(April 17, 2019)— Students in Professor Daniel Madron’s civic engagement class at Hagerstown Community College recently held a fundraising event to benefit Holly Place, as part of a class project.
“Each student was asked to identify a non-profit agency that they feel provides a vital service to Washington County, and give a presentation about that agency to the class,” said Madron. “After all the presentations, the class members took a vote and Holly Place was selected.”
Class members organized a fundraiser through purchases at Washington Chicken in Hagerstown and a bowling tournament at Seven Ten to benefit Holly Place, which provides senior living alternatives in Washington County. A total of $5,095 was raised from sponsorships, registration fees, and personal donations.
