(April 21, 2014) - Hagerstown Community College student Ashley Warfield, of Hagerstown, recently won the Robinwood Players Theater Club Scholarship for the spring 2014 semester.
Warfield, 19, is an education major and a graduate of the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts. After graduating from HCC in May 2014, she intends to transfer to Ball State University to earn a degree in secondary theatre education. Her ultimate goal is to return to Maryland after receiving her bachelor’s degree so that she can teach high school theater.
“HCC has offered me many opportunities, and I am so glad that I decided to go there,” said Warfield. “I was able to join the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, which will help me with transfer scholarships, and I’ve made connections and friends that will last a lifetime.”
The HCC Robinwood Players Theater Club Scholarship is offered every semester to club members who demonstrate outstanding dedication to the art of theater, academics, and the club itself. Scholarship winners must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be in good standing with the club. Special consideration is given to members who are theater majors or are actively seeking an education degree with a concentration in theater arts, and are taking six or more credits a semester.
“Ashley has actively demonstrated her dedication to the club on multiple occasions,” said Robin Shaner, club advisor. “She continues to positively impact the theater program and has really grown as both an actress and a leader.”
