HCC students accepted to Disney College Program in Orlando

HCC students Paola Torres and Ryanne Stevenson accepted into Disney College Program.

(January 29, 2018)— Hagerstown Community College students Paola Torres, of Smithsburg, and Ryanne Stevenson, of Berryville, Va., were recently accepted into the spring 2018 Disney College Program at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, as character performers.

Torres, 20, received an associate degree in theater from HCC in December 2017. After the program, she plans to attend a four-year school to earn a bachelor’s degree in education. Torres’ goal is to teach theater as a way to foster creative thinking and accountability in a new generation.

Stevenson, 18, came to HCC to study radiography before making the decision to join the dance program. Since the Disney Program is an unexpected opportunity, Stevenson plans to keep her options open for what comes next.

The Disney College Program is designed for college students or recent graduates from all over the country and the world. The program provides on-the-job experience in Disney’s parks and resorts, as well as career development. Students have the opportunity to take college-level courses for academic credit and network with senior level Disney employees.
