Paula Kessler named HCC Faculty of the Year

(May 7, 2018) – Hagerstown Community College recently recognized Paula Kessler, assistant professor and program coordinator of mathematics, as the faculty of the year for 2017.

Kessler started her career at Hagerstown Junior College as a student earning an associate of arts degree in mathematics in 1989. She later began teaching at HCC in 1992 as an adjunct faculty member and became a full-time faculty member in 1999. During the past 18 years, Kessler has been a leader in the College Algebra Redesign Project and has been a part of several grants, including the most recent S-STEM Math Grant from the National Science Foundation.

Kessler earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Shippensburg University and went on to obtain a master’s of science degree from McDaniel College. Following her graduation, Kessler taught for Washington County Public Schools at Boonsboro and South Hagerstown High Schools.
