HCC to offer accelerated EMT course this summer
Hagerstown Community College is offering an accelerated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course this summer. The course will allow each student to become a National Registry-Certified EMT in 15 weeks. Classes begin on May 8 and are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
HCC women’s soccer team signs local talent
The 2018 Hagerstown Community College Women’s Soccer program welcomed eight new recruits to join the core of returning sophomores from the 2017 inaugural team.
Art professors present at AACR conference
Joan Bontempo, associate professor at Hagerstown Community College, and Sonya Evanisko, professor at Shepherd University recently presented original works of art and participated in a three-day discussion at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) conference in Chicago.
HCC supports Financial Literacy Month
During the month of April, students can complete two free financial counseling sessions online for a chance to win a $50 Go-Green gift card to be used at the HCC Campus Store or the eateries on campus. Students can register online or stop by the registration table on Tuesday, April 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Student Center lobby.
HCC to hold spring semester student art exhibit
Hagerstown Community College will hold its spring student art exhibit from Monday, April 23, through Friday, April 27, in the Kepler Center on HCC’s main campus.
Student Government Association accepting applications
The HCC Student Government Association (SGA) is currently accepting applications for the 2018-2019 Academic Year. The deadline to apply is Wed., April 18.
HCC students to perform “An Evening of Dance”
The English and Humanities Division at Hagerstown Community College will hold “An Evening of Dance,” on Saturday, April 28, at 7 p.m., in the Kepler Theater. The event will feature students from HCC’s Dance Company and dance classes.
HCC to offer free GED and ESL classes starting in May
Adult Literacy Services at HCC will offer free General Equivalency Development (GED) and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses starting in May. Qualified students participating in the ESL program and seeking a career in the healthcare field have the option to complete a seven-and-a-half week course to earn a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Letter of Recognition.
Robinwood Players to perform “Pippin”
Hagerstown Community College’s Robinwood Players will perform the Broadway musical, “Pippin,” on April 20, 21, and 22, in the Kepler Theater on HCC’s main campus.
Opioid education event to be held April 11
Hagerstown Community College, the Wells House, Inc., and the Washington County Health Department will sponsor a free community event on Wednesday, April 11, at 6 p.m. in HCC’s Kepler Theater, to promote awareness and action related to the heroin and opioid epidemic that our region and nation is facing.
