  • HCC students compete in AIGA design challenge

    The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Blue Ridge Chapter held its “MockUp!” student design challenge on November 2 at Hagerstown Community College. This one-week design competition invited area graphic design students from Shepherd University, Frederick Community College, and HCC, to create a marketing design for a non-profit client, Building Veterans, of Brunswick.

  • HCC receives $50,000 donation

    Anton Mayer and his business partner, John Schaffer, of Jupiter, Fl., recently made a $50,000 donation to the Hagerstown Community College Foundation, in memory of Anton’s wife, Dr. Lindette Mayer, who died after a battle with cancer, on October 12, 2018. She was 79 years old.

  • HCC student named as Good Scholarship recipient

    Justin Walters, of Williamsport, has been named the first recipient of the Sgt. Richard H. Good Scholarship at Hagerstown Community College. Walters, who is studying administration of justice, is receiving $1,200 to cover tuition expenses for the fall of 2018 and spring of 2019.

  • HCC to host College for Kids art exhibition

    A reception and exhibition will be held at Hagerstown Community College to showcase artwork completed by students who attended HCC’s College for Kids classes held in the summer of 2018. The exhibition will be on display from October 25 through November 17.

  • HCC’s Business Club attends etiquette dinner

    Students from the Business Club at Hagerstown Community College recently attended an etiquette dinner hosted by Diane Cookson, of Manners for Life, Etiquette for Success, at the Fountain Head County Club.

  • HCC holds fall fest at Children's Learning Center

    The Children’s Learning Center at Hagerstown Community College held its annual Fall Fest on October 12. Teachers planned a variety of outdoor activities that included an obstacle course, face painting, ring toss games, a campus “pumpkin patch,” and other fun games.

  • Dot Foods donates truck to HCC truck driving program

    Dot Foods recently donated a 2012 Volvo VNL model tractor with auto-shift to the truck driver training program at Hagerstown Community College. This is HCC’s newest model tractor, and will add an automatic transmission tractor to the school’s fleet, for the purpose of CDL-A training and MVA testing purposes. 

  • HCC students bring new vision to literary magazine

    During the 2018 spring and summer semesters, HCC English students, Johanna Bulley, Lynn Martin, and Mike Tucker, interned with HCC’s literary magazine, the Hedge Apple. As editors, they brought a new energy and vision to the magazine, including the acceptance of worldwide contributions; publishing and marketing on Amazon; and distribution to 40 contributors of prose, poetry, art, and creative nonfiction. 

  • HCC receives grant to help students with child care

    Hagerstown Community College has been selected to receive funding from the U.S. Department of Education, under the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Program, in the amount of $51,950 a year, for up to four years. The funds will be used to help Pell-eligible (low income) students pay for child care.
