  • Williamson reappointed to HCC board of trustees

    John Williamson was recently reappointed by Governor Hogan’s Office to serve another six-year term on the Hagerstown Community College board of trustees. He has been a member of the board since 2012, and is currently serving as the vice chair. 

  • HCC Volleyball Team to host Homes For Our Troops fundraising event

    Hagerstown Community College’s Women’s Hawk Volleyball Team will host a fundraising event to benefit local and national heroes on Monday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m., at the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC) on campus. In honor of all of all veterans and those currently serving, the Hawks will play the Northern Virginia Community College Nighthawks on Monday evening, with all proceeds from the game donated to Homes For Our Troops.

  • HCC graduates first class of corrections academy students

    The first class of correction academy students at Hagerstown Community College recently graduated. The 37-day training program was provided by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions. The academy training consists of academics, which covers use of force, suicide prevention, cultural diversity, ethics, and crisis de-escalation techniques; and practical skills, which includes disturbance control, defensive tactics, chemical agents, restraints, and searching techniques. 

  • HCC offers fall late-start classes

    The fall semester is underway at Hagerstown Community College, but there is still time to register for late-start fall classes. Shorter sessions begin Sept. 10, Oct. 3, and Oct. 22. A variety of traditional and online classes are offered in blocks during these shorter sessions, allowing students to take classes back to back. 

  • Tech Team Solutions provides industry experience for HCC students

    Tech Team Solutions of Hagerstown has partnered with the Internship and Job Services Office at HCC to provide learning opportunities outside of the classroom for students studying cybersecurity and information technology. HCC alumni and classmates, Paul McAllister and Dave Cason, are the owners of Tech Team Solutions.

  • U.S. Air Force Airmen of Note to perform Sept. 8 at HCC

    The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the U.S. Air Force Airmen of Note as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series, on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 6:15 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater. 

  • U.S. Navy Commodores to perform Sept. 1 at HCC

    The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the U.S. Navy Commodores as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series, on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 6:15 p.m., in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater. The U.S. Navy Commodores feature 18 of the Navy’s premier jazz and big band musicians playing under the direction of Senior Chief Musician William C. Mulligan.

  • HCC holds reception for TRiO Upward Bound students

    Hagerstown Community College recently held its sixth annual TRIO Upward Bound Reception. The event represents an end-of-the-year celebration for the TRIO Upward Bound students and their achievements during the 2017-2018 school year.

  • Rakoski joins HCC dance department

    The English and Humanities Division at HCC recently announced that dancer Liz Fink-Rakoski has joined HCC’s dance department as an adjunct faculty member. At HCC, Rakoski will be teaching jazz and beginning ballet courses, exposing students to current jazz dance trends and upholding traditional ballet standards.

  • NARCAN Training

    In an effort to provide education on how to recognize, respond to, and prevent an opioid overdose, the Washington County Health Department will be hosting monthly Narcan trainings in the Student Center, Room 170. If you are concerned that a loved one is at risk for overdosing on heroin or a prescription pain medication, this training is for you.

  • Student vs. Employee Flag Football Game

    HCC will hold a Student vs Employee Flag Football game on Thrusday, October 25, 2018 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in in the field in front of the LRC. Men and women are encouraged to sign up. To sign up, there is a sign up sheet in front of the Student Activites Office or email Heather Barnhart at hbbarnhart@hagerstowncc.edu.

  • HCC College For Kids Art Exhibition

    The HCC College for Kids Art Exhibition's opening reception will be held on October 25 & 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Kepler Performing & Visual Arts Education Center. The exhibition will be on display from October 25 - November 17 and features artwork created by College for Kids students in 2018.

  • Maryland Center for Computing Education Meeting

    The Maryland Center for Computing Education will hold a meeting on October 26 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Career Programs Building (CPB), rooms 211 and 213. Area school district teams will meet to kick off planning and grant applications.
