Hagerstown Community College will host a one-day conference, entitled “Manufacturing 4.0: Creating a Skilled Workforce,” on Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the HCC campus. The conference is intended for regional industry professionals, educators, and students who are stakeholders in creating the new workforce.
The Continuing Education and Workforce Development Division at Hagerstown Community College recently mailed its fall course schedule. A few local residents will receive a golden ticket inside their schedule. The golden ticket is good for $100 towards a continuing education course this fall at HCC.
John Williamson, vice chair of the HCC Board of Trustees, was recently elected to serve as president of the Maryland Association of Community Colleges (MACC). The role of the president is to lead the executive committee to execute strategic direction and operational oversight for MACC. This committee guides the association’s legislative agenda, prepares and reviews the association’s annual budget, and acts for the board of directors between annual meetings.
The Washington County Health Department will host free Narcan trainings on Monday, July 16, at 10 a.m., and Monday, August 13, at 12 p.m. in HCC’s Student Center, room 170. If you are concerned that a loved one is at risk for overdosing on heroin or a prescription pain medication, this training is for you.
Hagerstown Community College will offer a portraiture class on Wednesday afternoons, from 1 to 4:35 p.m., beginning August 30, in the Kepler Center. The fall portraiture class is a three-credit, upper-level class for students with basic drawing skills who wish to broaden their ability to create strong visual images.

HCC is offering a hybrid Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate (EMT-I) to Paramedic Bridge Certificate this fall. The program will allow each student to become a National Registry-Certified Paramedic in two semesters while completing 90 percent of course work online. Classes begin on August 28.
