HCC recently held its annual adult education commencement ceremony. Student speakers at the event included Luz Herrera, of Hagerstown, to represent the English as a Second Language (ESL) and General Equivalency Development (GED) program, and Marsha Pierle, of Hagerstown, who represented the GED program.
Hagerstown Community College recently recognized Paula Kessler, assistant professor and program coordinator of mathematics, as the faculty of the year for 2017.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the national honor society at Hagerstown Community College, recently accepted 69 new members. To be eligible for PTK, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and must have completed 12 credit hours of college-level work at HCC.
Hagerstown Community College student Jentel Jordan, of Boonsboro, was recently awarded a scholarship from the Maryland Law Enforcement Officers, Inc. Maryland Law Enforcement Officers is a professional non-profit organization headquartered in Baltimore. The scholarship was established for Maryland students in good academic standing who are planning a career in law enforcement and have financial need.
Program information sessions for the STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math, medical) Technical Middle College at Hagerstown Community College will be held on Wednesdays, May 30 and June 20, at 4 p.m., in the Learning Resource Center, room 254.
HCC will offer an eight-week Advanced Manufacturing Institute this summer for area high school students and graduates. This competitive program provides three college credits at the completion of the summer program. Funding from the National Science Foundation allows students to attend the institute for free. It will be held from July 2 to Aug. 22 on HCC’s main campus.
HCC will offer a Cybersecurity Institute this summer for area high school students and 2018 graduates. This competitive eight-week program provides three college credits at the completion of the summer program. It will be held from July 2 to August 22, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on HCC’s main campus.
Volleyball camp will be offered at Hagerstown Community College this summer, for students in grades five through 12. Camp will be held Monday, July 30, through Thursday, August 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. each day in the ARCC at HCC.
Main offices at HCC will be open on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to enroll, receive advising, register for classes, pay bills, get financial aid information, get ID cards and parking passes, and pick up their course materials at the Campus Store.
