  • HCC and others attend ACT Work Ready Communities Boot Camp

    When HCC President Jim Klauber first arrived on campus in June, he was immediately interested in sharing his past success with ACT Work Ready Communities. As the result of an informational meeting with community stakeholders that he hosted in September, representatives from HCC and several other Washington County organizations recently attended the ACT Work Ready Communities Bootcamp in Little Rock, Ark. 

  • Allied health instructor appointed to national and state committees

    Richard P. D’Ambrisi, allied health instructor at Hagerstown Community College, was recently appointed to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Pharmacy Technician Forum Educational Steering Committee and the Maryland Pharmacists Association (MPhA) Foundation Board. 

  • HCC students compete in AIGA design challenge

    The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Blue Ridge Chapter held its “MockUp!” student design challenge on November 2 at Hagerstown Community College. This one-week design competition invited area graphic design students from Shepherd University, Frederick Community College, and HCC, to create a marketing design for a non-profit client, Building Veterans, of Brunswick.

  • 5K “Turkey Trot” to be held at HCC

    Hagerstown Community College’s athletic teams will host the 18th annual “Turkey Trot” 5K run/walk/kids races and food/toy drive on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, on the HCC campus. Packet pick-up will start at 7:30 a.m., followed by the race start at 9 a.m. 

  • HCC Middle College to hold info sessions

    Program information sessions for the STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math, medical) Technical Middle College at Hagerstown Community College will be held on Wednesdays, Nov. 14 and Dec. 5, at 4 p.m., in the Learning Resource Center, room 254.

  • Kris Kringle Holiday Craft Show to be held at HCC

    The 35th annual Kris Kringle Holiday Craft Show will be held at Hagerstown Community College on Saturday, November 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, November 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC) on campus. 

  • HCC receives $50,000 donation

    Anton Mayer and his business partner, John Schaffer, of Jupiter, Fl., recently made a $50,000 donation to the Hagerstown Community College Foundation, in memory of Anton’s wife, Dr. Lindette Mayer, who died after a battle with cancer, on October 12, 2018. She was 79 years old.

  • HCC students present at national conference

    Hagerstown Community College students Luyen Doan and Stephen Lanham recently presented their work at the 25th National Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Principal Investigators’ Conference at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. The conference was held by the American Association of Community Colleges, with support from the National Science Foundation, and brought together approximately 850 people to focus on the critical issues related to advanced technological education.

  • HCC alumnus comes full circle

    As a student at Hagerstown Community College in 2014, Shane Heizer was able to secure an internship with Middletown Valley Bank. That internship continued after his graduation from HCC and, later, while he attended Loyola University Maryland.

  • NARCAN Training

    In an effort to provide education on how to recognize, respond to, and prevent an opioid overdose, the Washington County Health Department will be hosting monthly Narcan trainings in the Student Center (STC), Room 182. If you are concerned that a loved one is at risk for overdosing on heroin or a prescription pain medication, this training is for you. No RSVP or registration is necessary.
