  • Reminders for 2016 Commencement Ceremony

    HCC will hold its 69th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 9:30 a.m., in the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center (ARCC). Students who are participating in this year's ceremony are expected to attend a Commencement Rehearsal on Friday, May 13, at 5:45 p.m., in the ARCC. Afterwards, students are invited to attend a Graduation Party at 7 p.m., in the ARCC lobby. Caps and gowns are available for pick up in the Campus Store or at the Commencement Rehearsal. 

  • Stacey McGee named HCC Faculty of the Year

    Hagerstown Community College recently recognized Stacey McGee, assistant professor of business and accounting, as the faculty of the year for 2015. McGee began teaching in 1999 as an adjunct faculty member at both HCC and Frostburg University. She became a full time faculty member at HCC in 2007. 

  • HCC recognizes outstanding adjunct faculty

    Hagerstown Community College recently recognized six of its outstanding adjunct faculty members for 2015. Kelly Weicht, who has been an adjunct instructor for the health sciences division since 1998, has been recognized as the 2015 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty member of the year.

  • HCC sociology class held fundraiser

    Students in Professor Daniel Madron’s civic engagement class at Hagerstown Community College recently held a fundraising event to benefit Children in Need, Inc., as part of a class project. Class members then organized a golf tournament to benefit Children in Need, which provides clothing and school supplies to low income students in Washington County. A total of $1,546 was raised from hole sponsorships, registration fees, and personal donations. 

  • HCC student receives national award

    Hagerstown Community College student Janai Heise, of Hagerstown, has been named a 2016 Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Silver Scholar. She was recently recognized at the national Phi Theta Kappa convention held in National Harbor, Md. Heise, 18, is a biology major and will graduate in the summer of 2016 with an associate degree in biology and a certificate in biotechnology. 

  • Student volunteers needed for HCC’s College for Kids program

    Hagerstown Community College’s Volunteer Services department is looking for high school students to volunteer for this summer’s College for Kids program. High school students ages 15 and up can earn community service hours while committing to work for five days in a class.This year, HCC will host six, one-week sessions from June 20 to August 5. 

  • HCC Middle College to hold info sessions

    Program information sessions for the STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math, medical) Technical Middle College at Hagerstown Community College will be held on Wed., May 4; Tues., May 24; and Tues., June 7, at 4 p.m., in the STEM Building, room 409. Seating is limited, so please call 240-500-2483 or email tlthorn@hagerstowncc.edu to reserve seats. 

  • Job Training Student Resources (JTSR) program accepting applications

    Hagerstown Community College’s Job Training Student Resources (JTSR) department has services in place to help qualifying students reach their educational goals. Support services include providing assistance with loaner textbooks, childcare or transportation stipends, and individualized advising.

  • HCC launches Cyber Leadership Institute

     Hagerstown Community College recently launched a Cyber Leadership Institute to provide students the opportunity to learn and practice soft skills that include resume development, mock interviews, interview attire, and leadership skills to prepare them for their future careers. Eight students were chosen to participate in the first cohort of the eight-week program.
