HCC broke ground on its Student Center expansion on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. The $15 million dollar project will add an additional 29,229 sq.ft. to the existing 19,000 sq.-ft. Student Center and will feature enhanced student lounge areas, study spaces, and meeting rooms for campus clubs. An additional 10,000 sq.-ft.
(Release: September 26, 2014) - Amanda Miller, associate professor of English at HCC, recently collaborated with artist Paul Rhymer to create a new children's book, "The Fishing Lesson," to celebrate the installment of a brand new sculpture of the same name at Hagerstown City Park.
Former Hagerstown Junior College President, Dr. Norman P. Shea, passed away on Sept. 23, after a long illness. Shea served as HCC’s second president from 1986 to 2002.
Renovation and expansion of the existing Student Center began on Sept. 12. The renovation will continue throughout the next year and will finish in fall 2015. During that time, hours for the Student Center will be reduced. The new hours will go into effect on Mon., Sept. 22.

HCC’s Continuing Education and Business Services Division meets with local business leaders to develop and deliver programs that keep their employees’ skills sharp. In FY14, Continuing Education delivered many contracted training sections to business clients across the region.
The planning and establishment of HCC’s TRiO Upward Bound program began in September 2012 and was led by staff from HCC’s Academic Affairs Office.
