The TRiO Upward Bound Program at Hagerstown Community College is now accepting applications from students who will be incoming freshman at HCC for the 2015-2016 school year.
TRiO Upward Bound is a year-round, college-preparatory program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, HCC, and Washington County Public Schools. Upward Bound is designed to provide students enrolled at targeted WCPS high schools with the skills and motivation necessary to complete high school, as well as to enroll in and successfully complete secondary education.
Program benefits include tutoring twice per week after school; college-prep workshops once per month; individual academic, college, and financial aid advising; career exploration; leadership opportunities; and educational field trips. Students also have an opportunity to earn high school elective credit, or college credits during the six-week UB Summer Academy hosted on the campus of HCC.
As participants in the program, Upward Bound students will have the opportunity to visit at least eight colleges each year. Upward Bound services are provided at no cost to the student or family. Food and transportation to and from all activities are provided throughout the year.
The priority deadline to apply for the Upward Bound program is June 15, 2015. Applications can be found at www.hagerstowncc.edu/upwardbound. For additional information, contact Danielle Donovan at 240-500-2422, or email@example.com.
