Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society at HCC, is sponsoring a special discussion panel, "Democracy and Information Access," on Thurs., Dec. 1, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Elliott Center, rooms 211 and 213.
The event will feature a speaker panel that will address the issue of government policy in regards to information. Additional discussion topics will include:
Guest speakers will be Joseph Marschner, HCC professor, Dori Nipps, executive director of Pen Mar Development Corporation and a former county commissioner, Harold "Bud" Otis, chief of staff for Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, and Andrew Schotz, a reporter at the Herald-Mail. HCC Professor Michael Harsh will serve as moderator.
Each speaker will have 10 to 15 minutes to speak. A question and answer session will follow.
Prior to the event, a reception will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
