Hagerstown Community College’s Continuing Education and Business Services Division is offering two workshops this fall for aspiring writers.
The first class, “How to Publish Your Book,” will be held on Thurs., Oct. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. This one-day workshop will discuss finding the right publisher, writing query letters, preparing an outline or synopsis, and learning how to self-market one’s work. Cost is $56.
The second class, “Fiction Writing Workshop,” will be held on Thursdays, from 6 to 9 p.m., beginning Oct. 17 and ending Nov. 14. Participants will learn about the elements of great fiction including character development and motivation, plot structure, dialogue, and conflict and resolution as a storytelling device, as well as to revise one’s work to meet commercial standards.
