The Continuing Education and Business Services Division at Hagerstown Community College is offering “Ethically Mastering and Utilizing the DSM-5 in Mental Health Practice,” on Fri., Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., in the Career Programs Building, rooms 210-214.
Taught by Carlton Munson, a social work professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore who participated in the field trials for DSM-5, this seminar will provide information about what mental health practitioners need to know to successfully transition to the new DSM system.
Discussion topics include changes in manual organization, critical changes to specific DSM disorders, and ethical guideposts for using the DSM-5. This course meets the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners three-hour requirement for ethics training.
