The HCC NOW Club will be going to Washington, D.C., to join We Are Woman (www.wearewoman.us) to lobby U.S. senators and Congress members to remove the deadline for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) on Friday, September 12. The NOW Club will meet with other people coming in from around the country to lobby at 10 a.m. at the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Attendees will visit Senate and House members to thank the cosponsors of SJ Res 15 and HJ Res 113 and remind the rest that this is an election year and women vote.
On Saturday, attendees will return to Washington, D.C., for the Constitution Day Rally that starts at 9:30 a.m. on the West front lawn of the Capitol Building. Attendees will rally for equality for women, ratification of the ERA, and voting rights and access.
Eleanor Smeal, founder and president, Feminist Majority Foundation, will be a keynote speaker. Also speaking will be Chitra Panjabi, membership vice president of the National Organization for Women.
