Program Description:
This course prepares students to care for client populations
with health alterations utilizing professional standards of
care. Course topics include disease processes, systems review,
nutrition and fluid balance and infection control. Clinical
experience focuses on skills competencies. Successful completion
of the course qualifies students to function as a Certified
Nursing Assistant to sit for the state exam for Geriatric Nursing
Assistant. |

| Special Notes: |
| The Certified Nursing Assistant works primarily
in the hospital setting. The Geriatric Nursing Assistant can
work in long-term care, assisted living or a geriatric unit
in the hospital. There are many opportunities in this area in
both nursing homes and hospitals with pay scale ranging from
$9.00-11.00/hour. |
