Fees:
Upon graduation students will be eligible to take the RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) national exam offered by AMT (American Medical Technologists). Exam fees are approx. $90.00. There is a yearly fee of approx. $48.00 to maintain your certification.

Program Description:
This curriculum is designed for the student interested in accelerating in the Medical Assistant profession. It provides skills-oriented training in both the administrative and clinical aspects of a physician’s office. Successful completion of program requirements fulfills requirements for the American Medical Technologists’ national registration exam in Medical Assisting. Students enrolled in the accelerated medical assistant certificate program are required to meet the same academic, physical and technical standards as students admitted to the medical assistant associates of applied science degree program.

Medical Assistants are the only allied health professionals specifically trained to work in ambulatory settings (such as physcians’ offices, clinics, and group practices). They are healthcare’s most versatile professionals. Medical Assistants are multiskilled personnel who are capable of performing administrative and clinical procedures such as:
     • Schedule, coordinate and monitor patient appointments; Obtain patient history and vital
        signs; Arrange equipment and instruments.
     • Prepare and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments; Perform EKG’s and
        injections, change dressings, suture removal.
     • Provide patient education and maintain medication and immunization records.
     • Coordinate patient care information with other health care providers.
