Student Government Association Elections
Running for Office
Would you like to lead the way for students on campus? Each year, the HCC student body elects a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and four senators. These are year-long, paid positions that begin in May. The duties of each position and other important information about running for an office can be found at the bottom of this page. Deadline to apply is April 1. Campaigning is April 1-12. Voting is April 15-17. Come to the Student Activities Office or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions.
SGA is the student voice on campus
The SGA is a vehicle for involvement in the college and acts as the official student representative body. The Student Government Association serves as the voice of the student body on issues concerning campus life and participates in shaping policies and student regulations.
This governing body was created to enhance the quality of student life and the success of students through participation in social, cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities.
Elections are conducted each spring for the executive officers. Offices include president, vice-president, treasurer, secretary and four senators. All students are encouraged to attend the monthly SGA meetings and participate in SGA events. The Student Government Association office is located in the Student Center.
SGA Mission Statement
To serve the college community by creating an environment in which relationships and unity are cultivated; resulting in a strong sense of pride while accurately identifying the perspectives and needs of students.
Voting is open to any current full or part time credit student. Voting will be available online April 15 - 17. For additional information about election days, please see Article V, Section 3 of the SGA Constitution, found on page 36 of the Student Handbook.
