Plan for Success Workshop Series

Start College off the right way by attending one or more free informational workshops.

  • Each Tuesday and Thursday July 9 — July 30, plus Aug. 20 8:45 —10 a.m.
  • Student Center Conference Room
  • Pre-register for each session by calling 240-500-2225 or e-mailing
  • Workshops include a light breakfast


  • July 9: Be Successful in the Classroom: Learn about HCC’s classroom expectations, study skills, and tips on time management.
  • July 11: Be Successful with HCC’s Library Resources and Tutoring Services: Learn how to get the most out of the campus library, plus review the rules of paraphrasing, plagiarism, and citing works correctly.
  • July 16: Be Successful in Finding a Career: Take an assessment that will help you find a career path matching your interests and learn about the importance of choosing a major.
  • July 18: Be Successful in Paying for College: Get helpful tips on scholarships, loans, budgeting for college, and resources to use so you can stay on top of college and living expenses.
  • July 23: Be Successful Staying Safe on Campus: Campus safety is everyone’s responsibility. Learn about HCC’s safety procedures and precautions, parking regulations, and more.
  • July 25: Be Successful using WebAdvisor: You’ll use WebAdvisor for registering for classes, checking your financial aid balance, and so much more. The workshop teaches the basics for using this personal administrative site.
  • July 30: Be Successful Outside the Classroom: The well‐rounded student gets involved on campus inside and outside the classroom! Learn about all of the great ways to get involved in extracurricular activities.
  • Aug. 20: Be Successful using Moodle: Don’t miss this thorough tutorial on navigating around the course management system/e‐learning program used in the majority of online and face‐to‐face classes.
