Student Services Orientation

ARCC The Athletic, Recreation and Community Center is an 87,000 square foot, multipurpose facility. The ARCC provides superbly designed and equipped facilities for educational classes, recreation and cultural/community events. Call extension 360 for the information desk in the ARCC Lobby.

HCC credit students are able to use the ARCC facility, including wellness center, weight room, indoor track, indoor basketball courts, and lighted tennis courts for free. You must show your Student ID upon entering the lobby.

Wellness Center The Wellness Center is located in the ARCC and houses a full fitness center for HCC students, employees, and the community. The Center provides a variety of exercise equipment as well as offering health education lectures and group activity programs. For more information call extension 246 or e-mail tkburge@hagerstowncc.edu

Academic Advising All new students at the college need to meet with an academic advisor after taking the placement tests. Academic advisors are available throughout the year to answer advising questions via e-mail at advise@hagerstowncc.edu or by phone as well as for individual sessions on a walk-in basis. You can also call the virtual advisor hotline at extension 240 for assistance.

Job Training Student Resources Job Training Student Resources (JTSR) provides support services to low-income, adult students. Students must first apply and be eligible for federal aid. Eligibility is determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Call extension 392 or e-mail jtsr@hagerstowncc.edu to make an appointment with a JTSR advisor.

Financial Aid The Student Financial Aid office offers assistance to those students who qualify for financial assistance. Information about financial aid, scholarships, grants, loans or work-study can be found on the college Web site. You can also contact the office at extension 473 or e-mail finaid@hagerstowncc.edu.

Finance The Finance office offers convenient hours for students to make payments or inquiries on their account. Students may sign up for the FACTS payment plan at the finance office or online. You can also call extension 220 for more information.

Child Care HCC’s child care facility, the Children’s Learning Center, is open all year from 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. Full and part-time child care is offered for children ages 2 to 6 years. Children must be enrolled for a minimum of two half-days per week. Child-centered preschool curriculum is offered, taught by degreed teachers and support staff. For more information you can e-mail kitchent@hagerstowncc.edu or call extension 322.

Food Services The Valley Eatery, located in the Career Programs Building and the Hilltop Grill, located in the Student Center are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (Hilltop Grill only) with a great menu selection. The Courtside Café, located in the ARCC is also open during special events. For more information on these services you can call extension 281/345.

Campus Store Textbooks and school supplies as well as snacks, greeting cards, computer software, HCC apparel, gift items, and much more may be purchased in the Campus Store. The Campus Store is open from 8:30am to 6:00pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8:30am to 4 pm Friday. For more information you can call extension 271.

Information Desk The Student Center Information Desk provides information regarding upcoming campus events and club happenings, and student workers here can help with general campus questions and how to get involved in a club.

Registration New students may register at the Registration Center at ASA-400. Most returning students are able to register on-line at www.hagerstowncc.edu/webadvisor. Student employees are available to assist students who would like to register on-line. Students can make changes to their class schedules in person, by fax or on-line as long as they meet published deadlines. For more information you can call extension 238/236.

Intercollegiate Athletics The athletic program includes sixteen intercollegiate sports. For more information regarding these sports and to be eligible to participate you can call extension 451.

Welcome Desk Student peer advisors at the Welcome Desk assist students who need basic academic information and referral for advising services. In addition they help students construct a schedule and/or log on and register via Web Advisor.
