HCC to host Mark Rust for Irish American Heritage Month

*Due to the COVID-19 situation, this event has been canceled.

(March 11, 2020) – Mark Rust, a singer and musician from Woodstock, N.Y., will present a St. Patrick’s Show in the Student Center at Hagerstown Community College on Wednesday, March 18, at 11:30 a.m. This program is free and open to the public.

The show is an upbeat and fun collection of traditional and contemporary popular Irish songs, raucous fiddle tunes, stories and poems, Celtic music, and sea shanties. The show features an impressive array of traditional Irish instruments including guitar, fiddle, banjo, hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, and spoons.

Mark starred in the Broadway musical hit, “Pump Boys and Dinettes,” and has appeared in People Magazine performing with Pete Seeger and Peter, Paul, and Mary. He has released many solo recordings, and can currently be seen playing music in the recent Terrence Malick film, “The Better Angels,” about Abraham Lincoln’s boyhood years. Mark has been nominated for a Campus Entertainer of the Year Award by the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA).
